What He Wants by Tawny Taylor

Billionaire Shane Trant is used to getting what he wants. What he can’t buy, he takes. When he sees Bristol Deatrich for the first time in over ten years, he knows he wants her. But there’s a problem. Only complete possession of her mind and body will satisfy him. He’s not sure the sweet little Bristol is ready for his brand of extreme carnal play.

But that’s not going to stop him from trying. After all, he learned a long time ago, nobody wins if they don’t take risks. If this risk pays off, they’ll both win.

SAMPLE
He growled, hooked an arm around my waist and whirled around so I was flat against the wall and his body was holding me there.

Oh. My. God.

His mouth descended upon mine, his tongue shoved its way in, and within seconds, I was writhing against him while he kissed me into a coma.

I felt him scoop me up into his arms. He was carrying me, walking, while our tongues mated and battled. I was losing the war, ready to surrender to him, to the fierce heat boiling in my veins, to the blinding need he’d sparked in my body. He broke the kiss, stared down at me with eyes full of male hunger. “I’m sorry, Bristol. I can’t let you go now. I can’t.”

We kissed again, and again, as he carried me into the dungeon. At some point he set me on my feet, but I was too shaky to stand, and I wasn’t about to let him stop kissing me. I hung onto his neck, arms wrapped tightly, and lost myself in his aggressive, demanding, plundering kiss.

I’d been kissed plenty of times, but never like that.

Never like the man couldn’t get enough.

Never like he was staking a claim.

Never like he was conquering me.

When the kiss ended–not my choice–I clung to him and fought to catch my breath.

“Wow,” I murmured. My gaze started at his mouth but quickly moved to the closest piece of torture furniture. I felt myself backing up.

“You’ve never been in a dungeon, correct?” he asked, hands sliding down my sides.

“Never.”

He blocked my exit with his hulking body, held me at the hips. “If I do something you don’t like, say, Red.”

“Red?” I echoed, trying to wiggle my way free. I wasn’t ready for this. That kiss. It was the kiss’s fault I was in here. I didn’t belong here, no.

He cut me off completely, cornering me against another wall, his body a giant obstacle I couldn’t push past. He caged my head between his hands, arms stretched out. His eyes were dark, hard. “You may beg me to stop, but I won’t. You may plead with me and cry, but I won’t stop. But if you say red, I will cease immediately.”

“Red,” I muttered.

His fingertip trailed down the side of my face, down my jaw, my throat to the center of my breastbone. I sucked in a deep breath and fought to regain my composure. But he was so big and so sexy and so intimidating, I couldn’t speak. “I promise I won’t be too hard on you this first time.” He closed his hands around my waist, forcing me deeper into the room.

Ohmygod, what was happening?

Crock Pot Potato Soup…my new obsession

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

This past week, I stumbled upon the recipe below on a fave blog. It looked yummy. It looked simple enough (which is important–I’m no Betty Crocker). So I gave it a shot yesterday.

The results?

This soup is To Die For delicious! Seriously.

The recipe can be found HERE.

Now, I will admit, I tweaked it a little. I added more garlic than the recipe called for, and I skipped the parsley. I also skipped the thickening. The soup was as thick as it needed to be. I also added some shredded sharp cheddar to the top of each bowl. Insanely good. If you’re a potato soup fan, you must try it.

5 Reasons why I wish I could be HGTV’d by Robert and Courtney Novogratz

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

First, a confession: I am an HGTV addict. That channel is always playing in my office/den. Practically 24/7. But there is one show that I eagerly await every week–Home by Novogratz. I am just floored by the designs showcased in that show. If only I could by HGTV’d by them. What a dream that would be!

What is it about this show in particular that makes me eagerly await the next episode?

1. The crisp, fresh color schemes

When I look at their rooms, I see a lot of bright colors teamed with clean, pure white. Orange. Green. Blue. Pink. At the moment, with the many stresses our family is currently facing, those are the combinations I crave. They make me feel light and carefree and happy. I need that right now.

2. Their use of huge, bold graphics

Many of the Novogratz’s rooms feature huge, oversized murals, bold geometric wallpapers, and/or interesting, achievable wall treatments. There’s always a WOW moment. In particular, I love their use of family photos in either wallpapers or murals. What a way to make a space personal.

3. Their keen ability to mix old with new and make it work

Their rooms don’t look like all the pieces were purchased at the same store, at the same time. And yet, they all share a common feature that makes them fit within the overall design. I try to do this, out of necessity. Am I as successful? No way! But I keep trying.

4. Their cheap chic, anyone can do this approach to design

Taping off sections of a wall, painting stripes and then using stencils to write out a simple message…the average do-it-yourselfer like me can handle that.

5. Their willingness to take risks–such as building an inside slide in a client’s basement or painting a bedroom’s ceiling with chalkboard paint and then paying an artist to draw a gorgeous winged deer over the bed. Again, WOW.

When I watch do-it-yourself shows on TV, I want to be inspired. I want to see something I haven’t seen somewhere else. I always get that when I watch their show (and no, I’m NOT being paid to endorse their HGTV program). HGTV, if you happen to stumble upon this little blog, please keep shows like this one coming!

Cover Pretty!

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

I just received a very pleasant surprise in my mailbox yesterday.  A bundle of cover flats for Blood of Eden.

First, can I just say…SQUEEEEEEEE!!!

Okay, not that I have that out of my system, I’ll post a copy. Note: the typeface is gold foil. It’s not scanning very well. It looks FABULOUS in real life.

Now, before I post the back cover copy…if you had to guess what genre this book is, what would you say?

Ready to find out if you’re right?

This mind-blowing new series introduces Sloan Skye, an ambitious intern at the FBI’s paranormal unit, where the usual rules of crime fighting don’t apply…

Sloan has a sky-high IQ, a chaotic personal life, and a dream: to work for the FBI. Her goal is within reach until an error lands her with the FBI’s ugly stepchild: the new Paranormal Behavioral Analysis Unit. She’ll get to profile criminals, but the pool of suspects is a little more…diverse. Yet even as Sloan tackles her first case–a string of victims, all with puncture wounds to the neck–she can’t silence her inner para-skeptic.

To catch the killer she’ll have to think like one. That means casting aside her doubts, and dealing with the bizarre nightmares that started with the job. But the strangeness is only beginning, as Sloan pieces together the shocking truth about a case that’s more personal than she ever would have guessed.

How did the cover do? Does it quickly, clearly identify the book’s genre and tone? I’d love to hear your thoughts/feedback. Now, keep in mind, this is a cover for a PAPERBACK, not an ebook. The rules are a little different, as I’ve come to find out.

A new release – THE WEAVERFIELDS HEIR by David Bridger

When Kate Richards inherits a dilapidated English estate from her estranged grandfather, she finds herself thrust into a world full of hostile new family members, mysterious Romany tenants, and strange visions of “the net” – an invisible web that connects everything in the universe. Kate thinks she’s losing her sanity, but the odd family stories and disturbing tales of locals convince her that something sinister is going on at Weaverfields, while the inescapable pull of the net draws her deeper into the secrets of her new home.

But with those secrets come danger, and an old evil that refuses to let go of its hold on the net – or on Weaverfields. The only person who seems to understand is Joe, a Romany street artist with his own ties to the land. Kate and Joe must master the net before the past intrudes on the present… in very ugly ways…

Guest Blogger: Lauren Fraser

Friday, April 22nd, 2011

I want to welcome Lauren Fraser today. She’d like to talk about menages. I know there are a few of you out there who love reading a good menage. You know I do! I hope you enjoy her post.

So without further ado…

Menages and why we love ‘em!

First off I just want to say thank you, Tawny, for having me as a guest on your blog today. I’m looking forward to chatting with everyone.

Now I don’t know about you, but I love reading a great menage story. There’s just something about them that really appeals to me. Maybe it’s the whole taboo around being with more than one person at once, I don’t know. Or it could be the fantasy about having two other people focused completely on one person and their pleasure that’s just so hawt. Whatever it is the whole thing just works for me. Guess that’s why I like to write them. LOL

I have to admit though I am one of those readers who loves a good love story. I like to have some romance with my sex *grin* So for me there’s nothing better than the emotional angst and upheaval in making an unconventional relationship work. And come on when you add extra bodies there’s going to be extra emotions involved and I just love that stuff.

I think a well written story pulls the reader in and makes you care about the characters regardless of gender and because of that I can read any combination of story and enjoy it. But when it came to writing both of the menage books I’ve written I had to go with what works best for me, and I find the idea of two men and one woman pretty hot, I’m not going to lie.

Now I’ve written one M/F/M and one M/M/F menage, and I really enjoy both. So I’m curious, as a reader what combination do you prefer? M/M/F, M/F/M, F/M/F, F/F/M? Do you like it when both men (women) are focused completely on the woman (man) but not each other, or do you enjoy seeing all three people touching each other and have that love and attraction cross boundaries?

It seems that whether you read these stories or not everyone has an opinion on what would make a good ménage story, and I would love to know what your works for you.

#SampleSunday: To Conquer the Heart of a King

Sunday, April 17th, 2011

Excerpt:
“Yes,” said the Seer in a quiet voice. “You will be king…until your people rise against you.”
“That’s a lie!” Lukas of Falkenberg spoke to her now for the first time. She did not brace herself as he grabbed her shoulders. “You can’t know the future.”
“Of course I can’t, but I see the present very clearly. Let me finish! If you rule with a stone heart like your father, if you steal the food from your subjects’ mouths–”
“What you say is treason,” he growled.
“Is it so hard to see the difference between treason and truth?”

A woman who knows the future but not her own past. The son of a king who must fight for his crown. They will come together to get what they each desire. Their pact will turn to passion…but will they realize it before intrigue tears them apart?

Before Lukas of Falkenberg returns to the Black Forest to take the throne from his dying father, he pays a visit to the nameless and sightless Seer at the Cloister of Mariendorf. He takes her captive to use her intuition to establish his reign. She willingly trades the punishing confines of the cloister for a palace prison in the hope of gaining her ultimate freedom. Although blind, she can see what the future king cannot—the needs of his subjects. She will win them over, but can she conquer the heart of a king before his half-brother Magnus separates them in a plot even she cannot foresee?
